Northside Farmers Market

It was worth getting rained on to get these babies. I look like a drowned elf but that’s okay.

We also picked up some sweet corn from Carriage House Farm’s booth and had it with dinner. It was amazing!

Hope to share more later this week. I was on vacation last week and we did a lot of local stuff.

Stache

We have a new addition to the family. This is Stache. We are not sure how old he is. He is a fancy bearded dragon and despite the fact that he eats live crickets, he’s pretty cute. The last few days have been filled with trial and error and I check on him as if he was a new infant. I find myself watching to make sure his chest rises and falls at night when he is sleeping. Here are a couple of scenes since Saturday when we brought him home.

Cincinnati Zoo Overnight

I was one of the parent chaperones for the Cincinnati Zoo Overnight trip for Isabella’s grade.  We had so much fun.  We arrived in the evening after the zoo was closed and received a tour with a guide.  It was so nice to have the zoo to ourselves without the crowds.  We saw the giraffes, the Insect House, the Nocturnal/Cat House and we saw behind the scenes where the food is prepared.  The next morning we woke up early, saw portions of the Bird Show and then split into smaller groups for some free time at the zoo.  Here are some pictures from our time there.

My group to chaperone

My group to chaperone.  I liked having the smaller group.  It allowed us to see more and everyone got to see or do something they really wanted.

This guy was not real happy about people showing up at night to see him. He stalked everyone with his eyes.

Behind the scenes- zoo food storage

Behind the scenes- zoo food storage.  This is where they keep the mice and crickets.  The kids were cracking up because the blood for the vampire bats was stored in a tea container in the fridge.

I'm glad Isabella paid attention to the educational portion too.

A Party Animal

The end of the preschool year brought a weekend of birthday parties for Blackburn’s friends.  He was so excited about the back to back parties a couple of Saturdays ago.  One was a pirate themed party with water balloons and a treasure hunt.  The other was a bowling party.  Both parties had piñatas filled with candy!

Did I mention…no more training wheels.

Isabella’s been riding without training wheels for a little bit now.  A couple of weekends ago we took off Vita’s and away she went.  No problems, no hesitation.  We decided to remove Blackburn’s training wheels when we removed Vita’s and we made the right choice.  He is doing great.  He just needs to work on stopping.  His way of stopping is to jump off the bike!
