Isabella’s book project for January had to be based on science fiction. She chose a Time Warp Trio book called 2095. It was a cute story about time travel, laser guns, robots and a magical book that allows the boys to travel anywhere in time, unfortunately the book doesn’t always work. I really dreaded reading this book. I am not a big time travel/ robot person but I was pleasantly surprised. I also didn’t know these books were made into a t.v. series. Below is her giant scrapbook page. She had to pretend like she was Joe (the main character of this story) and make a scrapbook page of her adventure.
The 100th day of school is approaching for the girls, February 1, 2013 to be exact. On that day Fairview has a celebration. Isabella has to bring in a poster board and 100 objects to glue onto the board during class. She is taking in some cut-up plaid ribbons. Vita is required to make her project at home and bring in. She used different color pieces of my yarn and made them into a rainbow and then we cut tiny pieces of yarn to make clouds. In total 100 pieces of yarn. Our hands are sticking and we have fragments of yarn sticking everywhere but we are done and I think it looks pretty good!
This weekend, after the girls’ soccer game, they had their first sleepover at our house. There was music, dancing, makeovers, pizza and movies. I think everything went really well and I hope they all had fun:
They played Just Dance 4 on the Wii and danced like crazy.
Vita getting a makeover and her hair braided by friends.
I’m still not sure what was happening in this picture.
We ordered LaRosa’s gluten-free pizzas. We got five medium pizzas thinking we would have extra but the girls ate them all!
The first girl was asleep around 10:00 p.m., the last one fell asleep at 2:00 a.m. Here they are watching Brave.
The next morning at a little after 7:00 Ben made breakfast. Gluten-free pancakes, scrambled eggs and bacon. All the girls were gone by noon on Sunday and probably relaxed the rest of the day. I know we did not accomplish anything productive on Sunday after they left.
It is so cold here and I don’t mind the cold when there is snow but we have NONE. Once in a while I see flakes fall and I start to get excited and then it stops and I wonder if I am imagining things. By the way, have I mentioned how much Blackburn despises the snow…he HATES it with a passion usually reserved for broccoli or green beans. He gets bundled up and cries to the car and when we get home he cries until he gets in the house. Heaven forbid if we don’t get to park near our house and end up walking a block or two. He just stops and cries until you carry him. If it’s snowing it seems to distract him enough from the chill and he is fine, but these cold snowless days are killing him.
Some random updates:
Super busy at work as we get ready for trial next week.
Isabella has started math tutoring on Thursday mornings before school.
Vita is having a friend and Isabella is having three friends spend the night this Saturday. They are calling it “Ladies Night”.
We are painting the bathroom, hope to show pictures soon.
Have lots of school projects due soon for the kids. Need to read Isabella’s chapter book for the month (she gets assigned a theme each month to do a project on- this month the theme is science fiction). Once she is done reading and ready to start her project I read the book so I can help and make sure she had really read and understood it. This book is about time travel, robots and lasers…not necessarily what I want to read right now.
Off to make a gluten-free version of dirt cake. Will let you know how it turns out.
Ben and I celebrated 14 years together. Here is how we spent our weekend:
I hope your holiday weekend was nice and relaxing. Stay warm!
